Kenyan recounts opening a driving school in the United States: “God’s time is the best”

Investment is slow to come

Speaking on Mkenya Marekani TV’s YouTube channel, the owner of Blessed Driving School, Ithe wa Gathuru said his new investment was a long time coming.

“It’s something I’ve been looking forward to for many years, and God’s timing is the best. The feeling is inexplicable,” he recently said.

“I’m a people person, so I was looking for a way to serve God, and my community and a driving school was a way I could do that,” he added.

Gathuru said he saw how people drove, which made him want to change his life.

The office was not easy

However, having his own brick-and-mortar driving school didn’t come easy for Gathuru.

“In 2017 my wife was expecting a baby and she went to the salon to get her hair done. A lady from West Africa asked my wife if she knew anyone who could help her learn to drive” , said Gathuru.

“My husband is a perfect driving instructor,” replies his wife.

At the time, the couple was at its lowest.

“I had just lost my job and my wife was about to give birth. God just paved this way and the rest is history,” he said.

“I used to have a briefcase desk so I would go and see people, from their apartments and at home, but now we’re here and now God has blessed us with the blessed driving school “, he added.

There is a huge market

The enthusiastic driving instructor also said they are getting a lot of calls as children turn 16 every day, and there is a huge market for people looking to learn how to drive.

Some of the requirements for someone looking to know how to drive in the city of Washington include ID card, written exam, driving test and then you get your license. This license is for small cars. Bigger cars have a different set of requirements.

Gathuru wants to have a driving school in every corner of the United States and create others outside the country.

He warns young people not to drive while intoxicated, as it is about safety and their lives. He also thanked Kenyans in the country for always coming.
